I can't believe how horribly long that took me to do. I had the unedited completed recording sitting on my computer for at least a week. Yeesh!

Hi Meredith,

I redid chapter 10 (the mistakes were bugging me and for some reason I had saved in MP3 only). Moral of the story, save twice, read once. Chapter 12 is done too.

Got them. Thanks for going to the trouble of re-recording, Judy -- I know how discouraging that can be!

Hi Meredith,

Is chapter 13 available? My computer was not functioning for a few days courtesy of Microsoft Automatic Updates. I have resolved the problem and will have some time to record again.

thanks,

Judy

Hi Meredith,

I recorded 13 and 14 as I was on a roll. I will edit them tonight or tomorrow (I can only record in that window between getting home from work and when the kids get home. I can edit during noisier times).

My seven year old listened to one of my chapters. Her comment: "mom, what's a bosom?" You warned us that this book was full of morals but not that the North Wind was so sexy - all that repressed (or not so repressed) Victorian sexuality isn't a feature of contemporary children's literature!

I am starting a solo project. However, I'll check back if you end up with orphaned chapters or any remain unclaimed.

best, Judy

Hi Meredith, Here is chapter 13. The long middle section that completely lacks punctuation was rather a challenge, to record as well as to edit.

Run time is 15:12

Wow -- that is quite the section! I had forgotten about it. It's rather bizarre, isn't it? I imagine it was meditative, though...
You did it well, anyway -- the editing is (mostly) seamless. :-)
Thanks for all your hard work, Judy, and please feel free to come back and record more when you've finished your solo project. What are you going to record? I'm looking forward to hearing it!

Hi Meredith, I am doing Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz. Rainer has kindly agreed to coordinate for me. The links to the first two chapters are posted on the solo projects forum if you want to take a peek... I mean a listen.

Chapter 14 should be coming soon when I get a chance to edit it. It is shorter and simpler.

On that long section, oddly enough some of the volume fluctuations were not a result of cutting and pasting but probably from running out of breath and trying to recharge in the middle of that stream of consciousness. I will have to come up with better breathing technique in the absence of commas, periods, and semi-colons!

Here is chapter 14. This is getting easier but I am getting pickier so it's not exactly getting any faster....

Hello, Meredith! I have completed a chapter!

Why thank you, Meredith! Would you kindly inform us where it can be found?

But of course, Meredith! It is located at
http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~amhughes/northwind_01_macdonald.mp3
My name is Meredith Hughes, and the run time is 21:59

... Just because I thought this thread was a little too quiet. :-)

Hello to all readers.

As we are constantly trying to make life easier for our volunteers :D we developed a tool for uploading files. Yousendit changed their terms of service and is not as useful as it once has been. If you have your own webspace, you are more than welcome to continue using it. The LibriVox Uploader is a replacement for yousendit. You will find the LibriVox Uploader here:
http://librivox.prolegomena.org/
You need a password to upload the files:
password: public
Please upload only the files of the projects listed there. We are still testing but we hope that we can provide this for all projects soon. If you have any problems or find any mistakes, please inform me.

Greetings,

Rainer
