Joseph R. Renville, 1842 (Wakantanka taku nitawa). Appeared in the Dakota Indian Hymnal, 1916; translated from Dakota to English by Philip Frazier, 1929.

I don't think that this is likely to be in the Public Domain in the US, as the translation was first published in the United Methodist Hymnal in 1930 and is probably still under copyright. :(

Unfortunately copyright is such a complicated issue that we are sticking to things published before 1923 which are certain to be PD in the US.

Greetings ;

Tech specs, audio, and tags are OK.

I noted three deviations from the lyrics on the website:

Time: 1:25 In the line "Created make reply", the word "now" is heard instead of "make".

Time: 1:55 In the line "Our prayer and praise and anthems", the words "prayer" and "praise" are transposed.

Time: 3:05 The website lyrics call for one last refrain.

It is interesting that Theodulph of Orleans wrote this while in prison.

:) I noticed that you did not sing the verse that reads:

Be Thou, O Lord, the Rider,
And we the little ass,
That to God's holy city
Together we may pass.

PL OK!

Nicely done.

While not making a comment on the youth of today, I had to smile when I noted that this was part of Isaac Watts' "Divine and Moral Songs for Children" work.
