Section 1 The Purloined Letter is PL OK.

Poe got somewhat sidetracked in that story, that whole discussion on mathematics was a little odd. Kudos to Tricia for reading that story and those foreign phrases with aplomb!

Might be time to consider reopening section 13 so we can wrap this one up. ginaelisa has only posted once to claim this over two months ago. What do you think, TTM?

I've posted this over in the orphaned chapters thread so hopefully someone will be along soon to record it.

I'll do it. I SHOULD be able to get it done today. If not, it'll be tomorrow.

Bummer, bookworm!

But in the meantime, you could submit a test recording in the Listeners Wanted section, so that when another section comes up that you're interested in, you'll be all set to claim it. :)

There are 4 footnotes in this section. Am I to read them?

(*1) Moraux is here derived from moeurs, and its meaning is "fashionable" or more strictly "of manners."

(*2) Speaking of the tides, Pomponius Mela, in his treatise "De Situ Orbis," says "either the world is a great animal, or" etc

(*3) Balzac—in substance—I do not remember the words

(*4) Florem putares nare per liquidum aethera.—P. Commire.

It's recorded except for the footnotes and the French. I've hollered for help on the French in the Need Help forum.
