I just wanted to post this now as my own motivation to get with it!
Wonderful, thank you! Welcome to LibriVox. Make sure you include all the info requested in the first post when you submit your recording! :)

Also, if this is your first recording, you may want to send a sample recording of a minute or so, to make sure the sound quality etc is all right - often things can be improved at the outset that are difficult to fix later. To do this, first upload your test recording:
  • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader (when your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please copy it):
    http://upload.librivox.org
    Image
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
You'll need to select the MC, which for this purpose is: xx - Non-project files
  • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.
Now please go to the Listeners and Editors Wanted forum and start a new thread (click 'New Topic' at the top left of your screen). For subject, put something like "CC - Titleofrecording by Author" (CC stands for constructive criticism) and include in the message: the link to your file and what type of feedback you would like to receive. Please note: In order to keep this forum current, requests for feedback on test recordings and similar individual files will be deleted ~ one month after they are first posted.

I have finished an initial, unedited recording of my chosen story and it runs an hour and 24 minutes. Considering your request to try and stick to works under an hour, I am wondering if this is unacceptably long?

Would you edit it and then let me know how long it is, please? I'll get back to you about this then. Even if it can't go into this collection, we'll find a space for it, don't worry! :) But I think it should be fine.

Ok, I will work on the edit this weekend. I've also found another that should run about 40 minutes so I know it will come in under time. :)

Finally finished. It's ended up longer (perhaps I read more slowly, or paused more often).

Running time is 1:32:11

I won't upload until you give me the go ahead but if you want to check it out it is:

Missing: Page Thirteen by Anna Katherine Green

Great! Much look forward to this. Let me confer about where best to place this - maybe we'll leave it in one file, maybe put it in two parts. I'll get back to you shortly.

Hi Darvinia

The consensus among MCs is that it's best to split up the story into two or three parts. Start each file with "Missing: Page Thirteen, part x. - This is a LibriVox... etc" and as outro put "End of part x of Missing: Page Thirteen by A K Green." (For the last part, you might say "End of part x of y of ..." so readers know it's the end end)

Name the files missing_01_green.mp3 etc.

Upload as per instructions in the first post of this thread, then post the URLs here with the file durations, please. I won't put them in this collection because the story is a bit too long, but I'll catalogue them straight away on their own. It doesn't make a big difference - even the collection stories can be found on their own by author and title. We've done it this way before for long short stories, as it were.

Is that all right? I'll be very happy to PL your story, too. Any questions, please let me know. :)
