In this epistolary novel, we find a young woman named Evelina, who was raised in rural seclusion until her eighteenth year because of her uncertain parentage. Through a series of harrowing and humorous events that take place in London and an English resort town, Evelina learns how to navigate the complex layers of 18th century society and earn the love of a distinguished and honorable nobleman. This comedy of manners often satirizes the society in which it is set; Evelina is a significant precursor to later works by Jane Austen and Maria Edgeworth, whose novels explore many of the same issues. - How to claim a part, and 'how it all works' here
This is an epistolary novel, written in letter format. Ideally, one person will read all of the letters from one character (gender-matched, with men reading male character’s letters and vice versa). However if you’d like to read for just part of the character’s letters, that’s great too.
Here are the characters and the number of letters for each:- Character (Number of letters)
* Lady Howard (6)
* Mr. Villars (16)
* Evelina ("eh - veh - LYE - nah") (60)
* Sir John Belmont (1)
* Lady Belmont (1)
* One non-letter section needed: original inscription, dedication, and preface (1)
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5 below, at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are “up for grabs.” Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which character’s letters, or which sections of a character’s letters, you’d like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6 to 8 below for what to do before, during and after your recording. - Character (Number of letters)

If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it’ll go back to the pool. There’s no shame in this; we’re all volunteers and things happen. - Where do I find the text?
