Thanks! I'll clean that up.

I would also love to know if you have any suggestions for me in the style of reading?

Hello Karen, Leni, Illiterati, and all the good readers:

While you guys were working hard on Plato's Republic, I was off for Christmas vacation! (And we got to 100% claimed! Excellent!) It was fun, but now I'm back.

I uploaded two files. One was a corrected version of section 12, at: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/km/republic_12_plato.mp3

The time is still 20 minutes even, 19.21 MB.

The other was section 13, at 19:20, 18.56 MB. Location: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/km/republic_13_plato.mp3

Looking forward to hearing from you, Illiterati!

Over to you, Illiterati.

PL 13 & 14.

In 13 at 06:02 no, nor a madder read as no, not a matter.

In 14 at 03.02 unseasonable read as unreasonable. In ID3 the track is numbered 13, should be 14.

Thank you, Jim, for your contributions to this book. Hope to hear more of you soon!

PL 36 perfect! Thank you, Purifier.

I find the accuracy of Plato's description of a tyrannical man in sections 35 and 36 a bit amazing having read couple of books on Josef Stalin and his times last year.

OK, I have uploaded corrected versions of parts 13 and 14 to the usual places: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/km/republic_13_plato.mp3 and http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/km/republic_14_plato.mp3 .

Good catch on unreasonable vs. unseasonable. I thought (and still think) that unreasonable actually makes sense: when a cunning and suspicious man is in the company of good men, his suspicions are "unreasonable", meaning that there is no reason for them among this group of men. But what Plato appears to be saying is slightly different: his suspicions are "unseasonable", that is, not appropriate to his current "season" (we would say "situation"), being among honest men. Unlike "unreasonable", the word "unseasonable" implies that there is an appropriate time for his suspicions (when he is among his own kind), just not the present. In the same sense, freezing weather in June (in the northern hemisphere) is unseasonable; there is a proper season for it, just not now.

Given all that, the word "unseasonable" appears so uncommonly in print that I don't feel bad missing it!

Thanks, Illiterati, for your discerning and careful proof-listening. I'll be interesting in listening to this book when it is complete.

Well, my thoughts exactly. And since it arguably DOES change the meaning I decided to put it in there, mostly because I did really not know what to do about it.

But I was really being a bit picky there, I admit that. My defense is that I try to put as much effort to this as I find the readers are doing. :D
