Hi, Anna,

I have just finished uploading Section 08 - Welcome to Spring.

Timing is 1:45 again.
The URL is
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/lz/bibballads_08_lardner.mp3

I'll try to do one more file before I go to bed tonight. It's now 22:35 on Friday, 9/5, in Japan. Tomorrow and Sunday I will be working at my regular weekend job, so no promises for the rest of the weekend.

Are you still in Sweden?

Hi, Anna,

The following sections of "Bib Ballads" by Ring Lardner have been uploaded:

Section 7 "Speech Economy" 1:45 is at
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/lz/bibballads_07_lardner.mp3

Section 8 "Welcome to Spring" 1:45 is at
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/lz/bibballads_08_lardner.mp3

Section 9 "Taste" 1:34 is at
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/lz/bibballads_09_lardner.mp3

This makes one-third of the small book finished, since the Foreword was Section 00 of the 30 sections.

I'll continue again sometime next week; right now I'm going to bed.

Thanks and good night,

Jack

Wow, good progress, Jack! And I see Ans (anna) has jumped in to help out too. You can do it just as quickly or as slowly as you want, since it is your solo.
Oh, and yes, I'm still in Sweden (travelling back home on Sunday).

Hello, Anna.

I was gone in the USA for about 2 weeks and slow getting back to regular activities once I returned. But I have now finished recording and uploading all the sections. The files can be found in the range from
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/lz/bibballads_10_lardner.mp3
to
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/lz/bibballads_29_lardner.mp3.

For a summary text, I would suggest something like the following:

Ring Lardner is a typical parent when his first child is born, full of wonder and the rest of the usual emotions as he watches his little son grow. He wrote a series of 29 short poems on various facets of parenthood.

But I don't know where to put that summary text.

Please let me know what else I need to do to finish the project.

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Jack,
Wow - good to see you're back - and you've finished them all!!

OK - if you could copy the URLs to the files to the appropriate cells in the magic window, that would be great (I see you did put in the time of each file in the MW already - thank you!). The cataloging software behind the scenes can then pull them automatically from the MW in one go - which makes it much easier for me :)

I'm sure anna (Ans) will be along soon to do the rest of the proof-listening. As soon as all the files are PL OK, I can start the cataloging.
Coincidence - but I'm about to leave for a long weekend abroad again - this time holiday, in Dublin (Ireland) - so probably I'll be doing the cataloging next week.
Thank you for the summary - I will copy that to the appropriate place during cataloging.

Good work!

Hi, Anna,

Thanks for writing back so quickly.

I put in all the URLs into the 20-character spaces of the "Listen URL" column last night, but they evaporated. The "Notes" column opens up a much wider edit box and includes a "Save" tab, so I didn't have any trouble saving the information that I wrote in that column. I finally realized today that the "Listen URL" column requires a more complicated, high-tech, advanced-level operation to save the text after filling it in, known as "Press the Enter key on your keyboard."

So I got twenty chances to practice that operation today when I filled in the URLs again. I don't think that I will forget how to save text in the MW anymore.

I also filled in the titles for each section in the "Titles" column. I decided that it makes more sense to expect people to look for titles in the "Titles" column, rather than forcing them to look at the "Notes" column.

I hope that you enjoy your holiday in Dublin. They say that Ireland is the richest country in Europe, since its capital is always doublin'!!!

Great, Jack! I know about the "enter" thing...

Yes, am having a wonderful time in Dublin - but couldn't resist spending an hour in the hotel lobby this evening to look through the LV forums.

I'll send Ans (=anna) a PM to remind her about these ballads.
