PL 15 Ok - and made me think we should make a project out of this, the second great book of Darwin in which he explains how natural selection applies to humans.

Not to worry Ruth. It's safe and sound in Collection 009. :)

Thanks for the concern & watchful eye, Ruth! But yes, it got moved to Vol 009, when that needed one more contribution due to some technical issues on another contribution I believe.

Why not the "Malay Archipelago" by Wallace? Looks like a fascinating read.

Haha!

You don't know this, but I have travelled several islands in Indonesia, criss-crossed the Malaysian peninsula and trekked along Borneo rivers. Morning in a tent in a rainforest is quite something!

This is therefore very interesting for me as well. :D

It would be timely in view of the fact that Darwin's 200th birthday is this week (Feb 12) and this year is also the 150th anniversary of the publication of his Origin of Species in November 1859. On the other hand, Descent of Man is 277,456 words, which is 151,091 words longer than Origin of Species!

I've added both of these on my todo-list - now I just got to get some other obligations out of the way ASAP.

Descent of Man indeed is quite a piece - but that is why we distribute the workload, isn't it? :D

This section sounded great, levels were good, no noise or background issues, opening and closing titles were correct.

Yes, this is the right place. :) It is on Project Gutenberg at http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/20715 and is about 3,400 words, so would be just right for a short non-fiction collection. This one has just closed, but Vol 11 should be opened up soon.
