La Aventuroj de Alicio en Mirlando de Lewis Carroll (1832-1898) Tradukita de E. L. Kearney (1856-1913)..

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/la-aventuroj-de-alicio-en-mirlando-by-lewis-carroll/
  1. How to claim a part, and 'how it all works' here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are “up for grabs.” Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you’d like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline?
Target completion date of this project: December 30, 2009 Please note that if we haven't heard from you for two months, your section(s) will automatically be re-opened for other readers. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it’ll go back to the pool. There’s no shame in this; we’re all volunteers and things happen.
  4. Where do I find the text?
(please only read from this text!):

    http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/17482
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)!

(To find out more about ID3 tags, go to our wiki: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/WhatIsID3 )
Add the following tags to your .mp3 file (how you do this depends on which software you use – if you are unsure about ID3 tags, send me a message). Please mind upper and lower case!

Title: 01 - [Titolo de Ĉapitro] (Ex: 01 - Mirinda falego!)
    Artist: Lewis Carroll
Album: La Aventuroj de Alicio en Mirlando

Please ignore tags for Genre and Track Number - these will be filled in automatically at the cataloguing stage.

    Transfer of files (completed recordings)
Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file.
Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
    • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader (when your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread):
      http://upload.librivox.org
      Image
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: mla - AmethystA
    • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.
I'll need the following information from you when you submit a recording:
    • your name/pseudonym as you want to appear in the LibriVox catalog, and your website URL if you like. These are only necessary if this is your first LibriVox recording.
    • the file size of your .mp3 file/duration of the recording.

Any questions?
Please post below or PM me.

BEFORE VOLUNTEERING:

It is important to remember that:

(1) You should always stress the second-to-last (penultimate) syllable. So never say ES-per-an-to or es-per-an-TO: say es-per-AN-to.
(2) Every letter has only one sound. There are no silent letters.
(3) If you're English, try to sound the letter "r" (preferably rolled). It's not silent in Esperanto.
(4) If you know any Spanish, Italian or Latin, that would help. Try to pronounce the vowels like that. Alternatively, if you know how to put on a fake Italian or Spanish accent, try to use that. :)

The following websites also explain how to pronounce Esperanto:

The following websites will be useful in learning Esperanto or to improve your Esperanto skills when recording:

http://www.lernu.net/ (has many resources for beginners)
http://www.cursodeesperanto.com.br/bazo/index.php?en (this is a downloadable course)
http://www.esperanto.net/ (this has resources about Esperanto in many languages)

Hi Nicholas19,

You're project is all set up...I adding in the first few chapter titles in the Magic Box for you, you are welcome to add the rest and the links to each chapter if that's what you were planning on doing. I wasn't sure since you wrote:
There are links to all of the sections below, as well, for ease of use. It is preferable to use the links below, because I have included the "Key to Exercise" after each exercise. If you use the link above, you have to look up each Key to each exercise individually.
That kinda looks like the info from the Esperanto Teacher Project. If it doesn't apply to this one, you may want to delete that paragraph.

I will need a summary for this project before cataloging. I'm not sure if you'll want that to be in Esperanto or English, or possibly both.

I put in the gutenberg link for the source for this text, as I had a bit of trouble getting the archive.org one to load. This text looks the same as the archive.org one, and it's avaliable either in HTML or plain text. The HTML one also has all the illustrations found in the book, which is fun.

I modified your ID3 tags just a mite...
Title: 01 - [Titolo de Ĉapitro] (Ex: 01 - Mirinda falego!)
Artist: Lewis Carroll
Album: La Aventuroj de Alicio en Mirlando

Enjoy your new project. :D

Dear Mary,

Many thanks for all your help! :) I hope the soon-to-be-completed Esperanto Teacher will stir up some enthusiasm for Esperanto and this new project. :)

I will have to think about the summary but I'll have that done soon, hopefully.

Yes,

You're very welcome. :D Don't feel like you need to hurry with the summary. Also, I found these links in the wiki, I wanted to make sure they are indeed Esperanto links for this title...

We could just use something from the Wikipedia article:

Esperanto:

English:

"The adventures of "Alicio en Mirlando" (English Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) is a work of children's literature by the British mathematician and writer, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pen-name Lewis Carrol. It recounts the story of a girl named Alice (in Esperanto translations Alicio or Alico) who falls through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world inhabited by speaking creatures and anthropomorphic playing cards. The story is full of satirical allusions to the friends of Dodgson and to the lessons which British students must memorise. The Wonderland described in the story plays with logic in a manner so special that it gave the author an enduring popularity among children and also adults".

That's perfect. Did you want to supply an English translation also or just stick with that one? It's totally up to you. Some other language projects do, others don't it's up to the project BC. :D

I'm going to go ahead and move this project over to Readers Wanted...

It may help to also state the level of proof listening your were hoping for on this project. You can add it at the top of your post in the Listener's Thread.

Hi sylvbarrier,

Welcome to Librivox. Could you please let us know what name you'd like in the catalog next to sections you record and if you have a URL you'd like as well. Your catalog name can be your screen name, your real name or something else you prefer.

Also, I couldn't tell if you've done any test recordings for us yet or not. If not, if you could record the first paragraph or two of Section 08 and upload that, we can just double check that your volume is high enough, and that you don't have any other technical issues. I'm glad you've joined us on this project. :D

paradise.camouflage (Andy),

I've added your name to the Magic Window. Sorry it took so long to get you there. Because of that, I put in today's date as the date changed.

Nicholas,

I also changed your target date in the first post, since the original one has already passed. :D

BC and readers have been contacted about their claims. I also added the new provision in the first post about not hearing from a reader in 2 months, the claim will be re-opened.
