I will select something else. I'm not a fan of redundancy unless it's mission critical.

I've recorded Jack London's To Build a Fire and am uploading it now... it will be here: http://betsie.info/librivox/stories_003/to_build_a_fire_london_blb.mp3
For more information about the recording of this story please see this thread: http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1601
... yes, I do know that the last few minutes sound awful compared to the rest of the recording... I couldn't take the wind any longer and had to go inside to record the last few minutes.

Well, it's done. Sorry about the delay, but I was out of town for a week, and had other responsibilities, and man oh man, post-production takes time! But it's done.
I'm sending it to you now via YouSendIt. Please let me know that it arrives safely.

No worries about the delay... the Short Story Collections are pretty much open ended... and real life always comes first =) I took a quick listen and you sound great with a clear voice and good volume.Talented_Mr_Miller wrote:Well, it's done. Feel free to read something else for us when you have the time. That's the nice thing about the story and poetry collections, you don't need to let anyone know ahead of time or work to a deadline.... you can just read when the fancy strikes you.

I just received my Logitech headset and I'm really excited to start recording. I believe this is the correct forum to declare Short Stories that one intends/wishes to record. I was really pleased to see so many interested in Saki, who, ever since I bought his complete works (sadly, only one large volume) one summer day at the Strand, has been a favorite of mine. But I would like to record certain other stories, but I am still unsure as to whether I may do so. How can I go about checking copyright status for something in an anthology for instance? One example: Liam O'Flaherty's "The Sniper." It was published in the UK on Jan 12 1923, so does that place it off limits? Is there a different way to validate stories apart from the Project G. database?
But to reposition this post under the short stories thread, I am posting my intention to attempt my first recording of a short story: Saki's "The Open Window"

Here's a helpful page in our Wiki: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/CopyrightAndPublicDomain
I think the general rule is that it has to be published first before 1923, which means 1922 and earlier. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Pre-1923 is the easy and safe way of defining works in the public domain... however, works published between 1923 and 1949 (inclusive) might actually be in the public domain if their copyright wasn't renewed in the 28th year following original publication.
I've checked on the status of "The Sniper" and it appears to be in the public domain (see my full response here: http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1636 )
Wrektjet, we also look forward to hearing "The Open Window" from you too =)

I believe I neglected to include the link to the etext for "The Open window"

What would one do if the reading couldn't be found online? Submit it nonetheless?
