I would like to play the part of Sebastian. I'm new to this but I'm willing to work at it until I get it right! Thanks everyone.

Oh, and you can just use my name Nathan Markham instead of a psuedonym.

I've uploaded Act I, Sc 2: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/ks/tempest_1_2_ariel.wav

I had hoped to do the whole thing this evening, but my housemate's senile dog has come back from her parents' and he barks almost non-stop when she's not in the house.

Okay. Can you post a test recording so we can verify that your technical bits are all in order. It's not an audition. I just want to make sure all the various settings are set according to LV requirements before you get too far into your part.

A true LibriVoxer would read between the barks. :P

I'd like to take the part of Iris, if that's okay. I've never done a multi-person recording before, but I'd be willing to give it a shot! Any pointers?

OK, here's the link for my test recording:

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/tests/Nathan Markham's Sound Test.wav

I hope it works and meets the requirements. Let me know if there's anything I need to change -- I wasn't sure if it was at 128 kbp/s but the file wasn't too big so I think it might be.

The big numbers you want is a 44100 Hz sample rate and exported to a 128 kbps MP3. The first looks good, but as a WAV file, your sample doesn't tell me about the second (though it can be easily fixed if it's wrong).

However, the waveform is much too quiet. I've gone over this with a few other recorders recently in this thread, if you wouldn't mind browsing back a few pages so I don't have to re-type all the same stuff here :-)

But to summarize my points: you want the waveform to average above 0.5, spike about 0.8, and never go over 1.0 (at which point you'd get distortion and clipping). The waveform of the sample you posted seldom goes about 0.1, which is a bit too quiet.

Otherwise, excellent recording. Good speed and speaking voice. Fix that one technical bit and you will be unstoppable! 8-)

EDIT: Oh, and DC Offset is present in the test recording. I cover that, too, in previous posts. A simple but required fix.

You got it. I see in the LV Catalog that you have some completed sections under your belt, so I don't need a test recording from you.
