Unless you have another preference, I'll give you chapter 6 HIS MAJESTY KING LOUIS XIII . Don't hesitate to ask any questions, and make sure you've looked through the recording notes linked on the first post of this thread.
Have fun! I'm glad you've chosen Dumas as your first reading
This sounds like a good place to start. I would like to volunteer. This will be my first recording as well, and I am looking forward to it. I will take whatever chapter you would like.

While I am coming, continue applying yourself to public reading, to exhortation, to teaching. -(1 Timothy 4:13 - NWT)

It's an excellent place to start I'll give you this one if that's OK....
I'll be glad to take a couple of chapters. I can speak French, so giving me one with a great deal of names or somesuch other challenging thing is cool with me.

I think they all have quite a bit of French, so....would you like to take chapters 8 and 9? I'll sign you up for those two unless you find two others that you prefer. I suppose it's just easiest to go down the list
The hymn tune was written and performed by me. I hereby raise it to the public domain.
(I didn't know till I read the chapter through the first time that she sang a hymn! I didn't deliberately set out to write more music for a Librivox recording, really I didn't!)

That should be fine Catharine. I received the file, and it's all set. One small thing, you forgot the _dumas at the end of the filename, but I inserted it. Thanks

It was actually really strange, when I did the recording for Toad's Last Little Song. I'd gotten quite used to how my spoken voice sounds to other people, but I hadn't recorded myself singing in... years, I think I last did so way back in high school or something. I was REALLY startled by how different my singing voice sounds 'outside my head' to how it sounds to me.

I got it Rfrancis, and it sounds good I often feel as you do about my own recordings as well though.
Yeah. I'm learning to ignore the voice that says "it's awful!" unless I'm sure that it's, you know, awful.
Next time I decide to do a character's voice as raspy, particularly right after getting my voice back, I hope someone kicks me. Two chapters of rasping away as Athos... ouch.
By the by, since I've done the reading for 4 and 5, at least, I'd like to go ahead and dibs my favorite two chapters, as I see they are open. Those would be chapters 46 and 47.
