00 - Prelude - John Carter Comes to Earth PL'd.

And we're off to a roaring start... Some minor nits in the prelude, all easily corrected.

In the intro, the second "The Chessmen of Mars, by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Prelude" is missing

at 5:11

"I said that I would and so he told me it"

then

"I said that I would and so he told it to me"

Also, I noticed the file name and title tag is 01_chessmenofmars_-_burroughs .

Should it be 00_chessmenofmars_-_burroughs ?

MW updated.

Lastly, one little bit of unsolicited advice (a specialty of mine  ) if you list the length of your files in the Magic Window as you go your BC's and MC's will love you forever. It's helps with cataloging... I've taken the liberty of noting it for the prelude.

Cheers! :D

It'd probably be best to have it chessmenofmars_00_burroughs. We don't want to make a habit of putting the numbers first. With that naming scheme, if you had two (or more) audiobooks on your mp3 player, it'd play the two audio books' files alternately. It'd play the first file of Chessmen, then the first file of the other one, then the second file of Chessmen, then the second file of the other one, and so on. And we don't want that eh?
I remember how, in college, I got that part-time job as a circus clown, and how the children would laugh and laugh at me. I vowed, then and there, that I would get revenge.

Don't know what kind of crazy mp3 players don't organize by ID3 tags, ( ) but as you decree, so it shall be.

Fixed prelude is up!

ALSO!

On the note of filenames and ID3 tags,

is this how everyone wants it?

Example filename:
chessmenofmars_##_burroughs.mp3

Example ID3 V2 tags:
Title: 03 - The Headless Humans
Artist: Edgar Rice Burroughs
Album: The Chessmen of Mars

Personally, I'd just have the Title as "The Headless Humans" and leave "03 - " out of it.

Also... Just so "everybody happy" as Peter Griffin would say, should the ID3 Title on the prelude be "Prelude: John..." or "John...." of course, that would be if there were no ##'s in the ID3 Title, as it is now, it is "00 - Prelude: John Carter Comes to Earth"

Basically my questions are, if that above was too confusing,

1. Should I keep the "## - " in the ID3 title?

2. Should I keep the "Prelude: " in with the ID3 title? I would think not since having prelude, chapter 1, 2, 3, etc, would be redundant and make for some crazy long ID3 Titles.

Thanks!!!

00 - Prelude - John Carter Comes to Earth PL'd OK!

MW updated.

This applies to the intro and repeat/edit issues only, of course. For the file naming and formating issues, I leave you to Cori's and LeonMire's tender mercies. :D

1. Yes please! If a number's the first tag-thing viewable, it makes life easier for folks with little screens, and it also means people can sort by title-tag to get the correct file order (I use that in Winamp a lot -- it does some crazee things with file organisation sometimes.)

2. I'd keep the 'Prelude' but drop the 'Chapter'. Exactly as they are in the magic window would work best for me!

Jim, feel free to tick off chapters as completed when you've PLed them. The way I use the window is to tick things off once I have a file in my virtually sticky grasp ... whether or not it's been listened to. But it's up to the two of you to negotiate a system that you're both happy with.

That's how I do it, too... But, if Tubeyes has no objection, I can check them off as "complete" as I PL.

@Cori: My sentiments exactly! Sounds awesome.

@Steampunk: That system seems fantastic to me!

I'm wrist deep in finals at the moment, but I'll try and get some more chapters up once my stuff settles down a bit... And then maymester, sum1, sum2...
