welcome to the project wes! it looks as if you're new to librivox, so welcome to librivox as well!Lokikun wrote:I'll take section 11 if it's still available.

it may be a good idea to upload just a few minutes of recording as a sample, just to make sure everything is okay with your recording stuff - it's better to do that than try to fix it later if anything goes haywire!
and PS - let me know what name and URL (if any) you'd like listed with your recording in the catalog!Lokikun wrote:I'll take section 11 if it's still available.

hi jude, they're all yours! welcome to the projectjude wrote:Hi, ettelocin,
Please sign me up for sections 25 and 26.
in fixing a section labeling error jude noticed, i came across this dilemma:
one online version of TMS has an extra part, Part VII, Of Systems of Moral Philosophy. http://www.econlib.org/Library/Smith/smMS.html
However, the text we're using has only up to Part VI. http://www.adamsmith.org/smith/tms/tms-index.htm
anyone have suggestions for how to handle this? weird! the edition with the extra part is a sixth edition, 1790, and the one we're using is the original 1759 version. it may be useful to have that part as well in this recording. ...?

ettelocin,
It appears that in later editions, Smith added material to his work. I was unaware of this too, but it has happened in texts recorded for LibriVox - for example, the Origin of Species. Smith probably also changed some of the material in the first six parts as well. Since some of the sections have already been recorded, it'd be best not to switch texts. Otherwise, those people would have to re-record their sections.
It's a shame, I know, because that last part looks really interesting. Unless somebody goes through each recorded part and confirm that nothing been's changed, we'd need to keep the same text. Alternatively, you can put a note in the summary, telling listeners that this audiobook is from the original 1759 edition.

I remember how, in college, I got that part-time job as a circus clown, and how the children would laugh and laugh at me. I vowed, then and there, that I would get revenge.

LM, that is what i thought - it's a shame i didn't see that difference in the editions earlier! it's also weird that the ASI would only put that version online... i wonder if there's a story there. anyway.
anyone want to volunteer for that fun task? no? didn't think so.LeonMire wrote:Unless somebody goes through each recorded part and confirm that nothing been's changed, we'd need to keep the same text.
