Here's mine: http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0YHOBC1BCI68W2ON9NYHQNXAL4
This is one of my first recordings. Please let me know if something is awry. I had previously been told that my recordings were soft, but this sounds perfectly loud to me. This is a beautiful poem, I hope I did it justice.

Ohhh. My first recorded poem. Hope it's alright.
I had a bit of trouble getting the filename correct. I kept running out of room, so I had to drop _johnson. Is that okay?

I liked your reading, Vicki. I think ol' Eugene Pinto would like this recital, too. The poem can be approached many ways-- boisterous and tumultuous and loud, like a Class IV rapid or soft and gentle like an eddy out in the river's bend. Yours was gentle and you have a pleasant reading voice.VickiB wrote:Ohhh. My first recorded poem. Hope it's alright.
From a technical standpoint, I found the recording level to be low. You might want to experiment with your mic's input levels. Often times, readers will turn the volume down because it startles them to hear their voice so loud. But it is always easier for a listener to turn down the volume on a loud recording than it is to turn up the volume on a very soft recording. You can only turn it up so far!
I can't speak to the file name problem you encountered and I'm not familiar with the YouSendIt web site. But I'm sure our excellent librarians here will have the answer!
Great first poem reading, Vicki! You're a natural!

Thanks Robert.
Lots of gret advice there. I'll turn that mic up next time! I'm a MAC user and my mic is built in so I'm on top of the computer when I read. I'm going to get an external one and that should help the levels as well.
And thanks for the compliment on my voice. I think I sound like a little girl. But c'est la vie.

Ah yes, but what a life it is!VickiB wrote:I think I sound like a little girl. But c'est la vie.
I don't know if you're familiar with the sound of your own voice but the first time a person hears themself from outside of their own head, it is very disconcerting. We don't sound the way we thought!
It can get worse, of course. I remember the first time I observed myself speaking and demonstrating in a video production... ::shudder::
But I definitely did not think you sounded like a little girl. Looking forward to hearing more!

Apparently, Bl. Kateri Tekakwitha's name was pronounced "GAH-deh-lee Deh-GAH-quee-tah", and she was a Mohawk, too.
So if this lady's Mohawk name was Tekahionwake, I'm guessing it was pronounced "Deh-GAH-hee-on-wah-geh".
