Editing is not so hard. Just record the bits you need. I usually do the whole sentence as it's hard to get the tone exactly the same if you do just one word and then copy it and paste where it goes. Don't forget to delete the one you copied from. (It makes a separate track)

I'll take it. Do you want the Biographical Note recorded as well?

Thanks Jo. Yes I say include the Biographical Note. It's short and I think will enhance the reading.

I've learned to check the word counts before jumping in and ending up with a 2 h chapter.

Well, I normally do that too but in my history projects I Always take ch 1 in case there is an intro to be recorded too.

I've encountered a problem with my recording software; at 33 minutes and several seconds into the recording of Chapter 4, it stops recording.

I consulted my notes copied from the Mac GarageBand thread here on librivox, which says that I should be able to extend the recording time past the default length of 36 minutes. I tried to follow the directions, but neither Garage Band (v. 2.2 ) or my laptop like it, the laptop *froze* and said it need ed to be restarted.
I did, and opened the recording again, but can't figure out if I can add more minutes onto my existing recording.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking i might have messed up my recording by changing the bpm? I set it to time 7/8 , and the bpm says 120. I can't see the recording *line* as i listen, so don't understand how i can do any further edits?

Oh that's no fun. I would suggest 2 things:

1. post in the help wanted for people who use garage band and

2. If all else fails, send me the sections and I can paste them together.

Also check the WIKI all about Garage band.

thanks, I did try to use the instructions of the wiki. I have posted in the help section as you suggested.

I have read 28 of 43 pages, so quite a bit yet to record.
