Yellow Butterflies, by Mary Raymond Chapman Andrews (1860 - 1936)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/yellow-butterflies-by-mary-raymond-shipman-andrews/
The title of this historical fiction could as well have been "A Soldier’s Mother" or “An Unknown Soldier”. There are indeed butterflies, and there is a small boy who grows into a fine, strapping young man who goes to war. But this moving novella centers squarely on the young man's mother, her love for him and her abiding faith.  (Summary by Lee Smalley)
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/66502

Target completion date: 2021-12-15

Proof listening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Here's Part 1, Ann.

Since this was written straight through without chapters, I'll be breaking it up as I go along, hopefully where it seems to make sense. There may be more than just three "Parts".

I've included the "Note" that the author wrote, though I'm not sure it ought to remain. I can go either way and would appreciate your input if you have an opinion after listening to it.

Section 1 is PL OK! I like the note there. At first, when I read it, I didn't think it fit, but when you get to the next part, then it totally fit. I think we should leave it there!

Part 3 and R.I.P. Dick.

In case you hadn't noticed, I added "historical fiction", which this certainly is, to the short summary.
