A Gringo In Manana-Land, by Harry La Tourette Foster (1894 - 1932)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/a-gringo-in-manana-land-by-harry-l-foster/
Foster was a World War I veteran, world wanderer, journalist, embassy attache, stoker on ships, miner, stowaway, bandit’s prisoner in Mexico, who wrote of Latin America and the Orient. He died an early death of pneumonia at his mother’s house in New York state. This 1924 book is a prime example of his witty travel writing and close observation. “The next year [1919] he started roaming and for about ten years he showed little inclination to remain in one place, except at his typewriter when the material for a book had accumulated.” (New York Times obituary 16 March 1932)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Happened to see this title in the thread list. It should be "Mañana Land" with the tilde. (The metadata at Archive doesn't have it, but the book scan itself does; and it makes more sense with it, because "mañana" means "tomorrow" in Spanish, hence the title is a bit like "Tomorrow-Land".)

Dave, I added it to the DB title entry. :)

Yes, indeed, thank you. My Spanish is only rudimentary, alas. Such a beautiful language.

I'm afraid the second section 1 you uploaded is identical in size and length to the first one. And, of course, with the same repeats.
