What a relief. I thought I'd lost you! Does everyone want to be notified in the forum? I'll be sure to post here from now on. Thanks, Mary Ann! I can't believe I'm almost done. I really love these travel stories. We're hoping to do some travelling abroad in the Spring if all goes well.

It's an interesting book for sure! Most DPLs will want a post in the forum to know that there is a new section posted to PL.

Chapters 13 and 14 now ready for PL. I am in love with the images in this book. I disagree with her view of the colonized peoples as less than she, but the experiences she had concerning dance, music, bathing, and even bugs agree 100% with my experiences. I saw similar dances in Thailand in the 80's, and was told that the reason the dance is so minimal and static is because it is like our ballet; intended for the King and court, and highly stylized. As for the music, her description is totally accurate. Simply not made for western ears!
