An interesting amateur theory that the Tarahumari people were ancient Puebloans driven south by invading athabascans...

FWIW, I've been to Copper Canyon and interacted with the "civilized" Tarahumari. Very pleasant people.

Steve
It was an interesting theory. We still have a lot of the Pueblo tribes around us - they seem nothing like the Tarahumari but then we are talking different centuries. I had never heard of the Tarahumari before and have taken courses on pre Columbian societies in Latin America.

Just one small comment on this one.
24:09 - it sounds to me like you are saying "fleet" in "the soles of the feet", could you please double check as it could be due to my sometimes faulty hearing.

Thanks,

M

Good catches all, M. Thank you! :D I think they're fixed now:

Chapter 04:
10:01 removed plosive in word "nature."
10:09 removed thump in word "which."
16:24 removed noise from silence between words
Duration of recording is unchanged.

Chapter 05:
24:09 "fleet" becomes "feet"
Duration is now 27:48 (was 27:49)

I've uploaded revised links to the MW. See what you think.

Thank you for the careful reviews. They really help to make the recordings better.

That description of the mules was positively brilliant. Although it didn't make me want to do it.

Nicely read and PL OK.

One correction on chapter 7;
13:54 - text reads "as grand a scene of massive crags", to me it sounds like you are saying "as grand a scheme of massive crags"

Otherwise, another fine chapter.

I'm going to have to look up some of these places.

Thanks,

I did use the wrong word. Good catch. Should be fixed now. Duration increased to 21:32

I also! Arroyo de Las Iglesias sounds spectacular. I've been as far as Divisidero (up at the rim) but haven't yet had the chance to descend very far into the Barranca.

Chapter 10, In the Cañon of the Churches

Well, that about shoots the book. Pending any corrections, I think we're through with this one. It has been a great adventure. Thank you for PL-ing so carefully, M. :D

Jo, I've touched up the summary slightly and am happy with it.

Steve
Chapter 7 is now PL OK.

I don't know how well I'd handle those mule rides on those trails. I think I'd be a quivering wreck.

Chapter 8 is PL OK also.

Thanks,
