Peter Pan , by J. M. Barrie (1860 - 1937)

This book is now in our catalog at https://librivox.org/peter-pan-by-j-m-barrie
This delightful book about the Darling children and a boy named Peter, is what started it all. The writing of J.M. Barrie is whimsical and funny throughout but his understanding of children and their imaginations is what sets it apart. (Summary by phil chenevert)
Source text (please read only from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/16

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Beautiful, Phil. I'm so honored to be the first one to listen to it. :9:

Sorry, I have one tiny PL Note:
@12:03/12:06 - "especially as nothing will stand still." is repeated

I've also noticed that the file name is like this petepan__01_barrie_128kb it feels like there is an extra underscore between Peter Pan and 01. Am I mistaken?

Okay, one more thing. :(

@01:04 - some slight noise along with the word "grown up"
@1:06 - the same noise continues along with the word "you always know"

I wasn't going to mention it but since you will edit the section. I thought it would be okay to tell you about this one as well.

I'm so looking forward to listening to the rest of the chapters. :D
Thanks, SaraHale. :D

I fixed the repeat at 12:03. About the file names, I just made a mistake on the first one, leaving out the r in peterpan and have decided to leave it till validation to fix all of them at once. And you are correct there is an additional underscore there as well. tsk, tsk. I am getting very inattentive to details, eh? I noticed that my voice is rather rough in these recordings compared to 10 years ago. But does that stop me? Heck no! I will plow on till I'm 100 I hope. :D

Hey, Phil.

I'll start with the PL OK chapters first.

Chapter 2, 4, 6, and 7 are PL OK  Beautiful narration. I can't wait for the listeners to listen to it and enjoy it as much as I do.

Chapter 1
Sorry to say this, but I still hear the sentence repeated. I checked the recording's link from the MW.

Chapter 3:
@20:26 - I hear Peter instead of Michael in "She ran to John and Michael"
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/16/16-h/16-h.htm#:~:text=she%20ran%20to%20john%20and%20michael%20and%20shook%20them.

@20:26 - I've started to notice a beeping sound until the end of the chapter.

Chapter 4:
I know this is PL OK. But I want to quickly mention that you've said End of Part 4 instead of Chapter 4.

Chapter 5:
00:08 - The Island Come True. I hear "Comes" instead of "come"

Chapter 8:
@23:16 - Missed "A few moments afterwards" the other boys saw.
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/16/16-h/16-h.htm#:~:text=a%20few%20moments%20afterwards
Thanks, SaraHale. :D

You are an excellent DPL Sara. The links to the text are new to me and very helpful. I know theytake more time but perhaps more people can start using that technique.

I have fixed 3, 4 and 8 and 1 should be OK too now.

As you know, I am not young and my hearing has gradually become worse over the years. What I miss are the higher frequencies. What this means is that, despite the using the best headphones and listening very closely I just do not hear those higher beeps and ticks. They don't exist for me. I rely on others listeners like you to tell me of them but sadly I can't find them to fix! If one can be isolated I can get the frequency and run a notch filter which helps but all to frequently I can't isolate one. All this to thank you for pointing them out and please keep doing it. :D Image

Thank you, Phil. I'm so happy you liked it. This is my first time using it. Don't worry, it SUPER easy. I'm using a Google Chrome Extension to do that.

Here is the Link to Text Fragment [https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/link-to-text-fragment/pbcodcjpfjdpcineamnnmbkkmkdpajjg].

That's totally fine. So, how can I be of help to you? Can I do something on my side to help you find the higher frequencies?

Well, I can't tell you how much I am enjoying this book. Your style of narration is splendid as always. I hope that I can reach your level one day.

I will do my best to PL the rest of the sections.

Chapter 10: It is PL OK, but I want to mention that you have
@01:52 - Missed "and things like that"
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/16/16-h/16-h.htm#:~:text=and%20things%20like%20that

It isn't a big deal. You can ignore it.

Thank you very very much for saying you like the story and my telling of it. That does mean a lot to me.

As for helping me with my hearing problem, just do what you are doing; when there is a noise, buzz or whatever tell me. It is probably something I can't hear but you can.
PS. chapter 10's missing phrase did need to be added and I did it. You don't need to PL it again though.

Thank you again for reading this delightful book. :9:

I do have a few PL notes. As always feel free to ignore them.

Chapter 5:
Still the same
00:08 - The Island Come True. I hear "Comes" instead of "come"

Chapter 15:
@03:44 - I hear Silently instead of Slightly. I may be mistaken, if so, please ignore it.
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/16/16-h/16-h.htm#:~:text=slightly%20had%20begun%20to%20count.

Chapter 16:
@01:59 - I hear "chance" instead of "change"

Chapter 17:
@06:27 - I hear "Peter" instead of "Wendy"
https://www.gutenberg.org/files/16/16-h/16-h.htm#:~:text=to%20let%20wendy%20go%20to%20him%20for%20a%20week%20every%20year%20to%20do%20his%20spring%20cleaning
