Oh same, or even just point out that he usually congratulates himself on how well he is handling his situation about three seconds before he does something really dumb. The blacksmithing is impressive though I will admit.

Chapter 5 spot PL okay!

For the record I totally made that last comment even before I listened to chapter 6 which further supports what I said. PL okay! Great reading as always!

Chapter 7 is loaded. Sorry I have been delayed a few days. I'll get back to my routine this week, Lord willing!

Here is chapter 8
https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/maroonedintheforest_08_verrill_128kb.mp3
At 4:40, the text reads, "...the brute backed away from the noose each time I poked it toward him, and if over and over again I was compelled to withdraw it and form the slip-noose anew." I believe the "if" is a typo, and I deleted it from my audio.

Oh I didn’t think we were behind; we’re over halfway done now!!

Chapter 7 PL okay - I did slightly tweak the time of the file in the magic window.

For chapter 8 I have two super minor notes. If you would like to pass I am perfectly fine with that.
06:15 “I could not find more of the prickly beasts” I am hearing breests .
06:40 text says “for fear I might slip or fall” but I’m hearing “for I fear I might slip or fall”

This guy is growing on me, but wait, I always call him “this guy” - do we know his name??

Ha ha ha, considering the decade and that he goes shirtless for most of a chapter, I'm leaning toward "this guy" as well!
Thanks for the feedback on chapter 8. I'll go back and try to fix those. Keep in mind that I'm also looking for feedback that will make the listening more pleasant. Are there places where the sound or pacing are off? I know my voice is no David Clark, but I want people to enjoy the experience nonetheless. (Aside: my sister is an avid Librivox listener and has been for years, but she can't listen to my books because she knows my voice too well and feels like I am sitting next to her talking nonstop. It's too distracting -- so she says! :hmm: )

I am really bad with famous people - who is David Clark?

You are braver than I! If I ever do recordings for LibriVox, I will NOT be telling my sisters about it.

Honestly, I can’t think of much by way of constructive criticism. I think you do a great job! Your microphone settings seem very good as I don’t hear background noises or breathing sounds.

I would say that the biggest difference I have noticed between your recordings and professional ones is that I don’t know if I have ever heard a professional audiobook narrator read as fast as you do. But at the same time, I only notice it at the very beginning of each chapter (right after the LibriVox disclaimer) before I get used to it each time and don’t ever have any problem understanding you. I also have friends who purposely listen to audiobooks at 1.25x or 1.5x speed because they prefer the faster speed, so it’s really just a preference thing.

David Clark is another LibriVox reader. His voice is deep and sonorous, and just a pleasure to hear.

Thank you! Chapter 8 spot check PL okay, chapters 9 and 11 PL okay!

On chapter 10 at 03:18 the text says “stone-headed weapons” and I am hearing “stone-heated weapons.” I’m okay with passing; totally up to you!

I reposted chapter 10.
Please give me some feedback on chapter 12. Around 7:40, I read the text as I imagined he said it, but it may be too jarring to the listener. Let me know if I need to re-record the "Haloo!"

Oh, G.A. Henty!! Yes, please! Thank you for asking me! My brother used to devour those books, so I have read a couple and have fond memories of his snarky commentary as he’d pretend to hate them. They are very fun, and I would love to join you if you’d be willing to have me!

So this is going to sound super weird and maybe you can help me figure out what in the world is going on here, but I think I have read this book before, except that it was called “Winning His Spurs” when I read it: https://librivox.org/winning-his-spurs-a-tale-of-the-crusades-by-g-a-henty/. Is this the same book with a different title? Not a deal breaker to me if so, just wanted to figure out what was going on.

I know I’m a little behind on PL’ing as work is getting crazy, but I will catch up on everything this weekend!

Oh no, they are the same book! Glad you knew that before I got started. If you like Henty as much as I do, let’s look for another. I just finished working on “For the Temple,” which is now in the catalogue, and really enjoyed his work. I didn’t know Henty before that. If you know another title of his you’d like to do, let me know. Otherwise, I’ll start looking. Meanwhile, two more chapters of “In the Wilderrness.”
