[COMPLETE] Cavour by Evelyn Martinengo-Cesaresco - dc
HI Barbara,
I recognize that as true, but could not have come up with it.
Thanks!
Pam

So interesting. "Cavour, who in his later years never went to a theatre except when he wanted to go to sleep..." - in my later years I feel like that about TV and films (some comedies excepted!)
Best,
Barbara
Thank you, Barbara!

Interesting that Henry James, in his essays spanning four decades of his travels there, is so unenthusiastic about the coming of the railways to Italy.
Best,
Barbara
Hi Barbara,
Cavour had Italy’s best interests at heart, even at the cost of the picturesque, I guess.
Thanks!

PL OK. So interesting. I knew nothing of all this. The first time I was in Rome (in 1968) I saw "Viva Savoia" (only the letters were in a stylised formation) painted here and there. It puzzled me but I think there might have been an election.... It still puzzles me. You might know whether it was a slogan of a party of the right.pnagami wrote: ↑February 10th, 2021, 12:26 pm Hi Barbara,

If it were for an election, it would be part of a tradition of election graffiti going back to classical times.
