Aunt Jane's Hero by Elizabeth Prentiss (1818 - 1878).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/aunt-janes-hero-version-2-by-elizabeth-prentiss/
Aunt Jane's Hero presents to the reader a hero's journey and romance different from the cliché, addressing not an idealized picture of love and life, but rather a picture that includes not just the beautiful but also the sorrows and unpleasantries of life as well. Though set in a time long past, in a context that may be unfamiliar to many, the tale is nevertheless one filled with timeless lessons and experiences familiar in some respect to all. In this tale we journey with Horace as he steps from a carefree youth into the varied stages of adulthood, and experiences both the joys and trials those bring. Through it all, he is supported by the wisdom, love, and prayers of Aunt Jane -- she who is as a mother to him, and who has herself known both much joy and much pain, and has borne the pain and found the joys through faith in Christ. ( Drew Brentson)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

There is a post on the thread for the last time this book was done on Librivox (viewtopic.php?p=364116#p364116) indicating that perhaps the Google Books link may not work for some IP's outside the US. That post cites the following source, which should be identical in content, as an alternate if the Google Books link does not work: https://archive.org/details/auntjaneshero00prengoog

The Archive link was used for the first version - I'd suggest using it for this - Archive has a Google scan so it is the same book but Archive is a much more reliable link to use

This is set up.

As you're the soloist, you're in charge of updating the Magic Window.

Detailed Instructions for accessing the Magic Window can be found in the document linked here: Instructions for Soloists

Video showing how to use the Magic Window (read the above document first - it has the information on how to log in for the first time, which this does not have):
Magic Windows / Section Compiler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOP4tcr1kl8

I've entered the first two sections for you as an example. You can fill in the rest.

When you upload a chapter, put the file duration (mm:ss) in the Notes field and the uploaded URL into the Listen URL field, and mark it from Assigned to Ready for PL.

P.S. I can access the Google Book text, but it's probably still best to use Archive in the catalog. I've put in that text in the database entry; it'll be the one that shows up on the catalog page when the project is finished. :)

Thanks Tricia!

I've filled in the chapter titles in the section compiler, and replaced the Google Books link with the Archive link in the thread's main post.

This needs to go in the Magic Window.

Put the file duration (mm:ss) in the Notes field and the uploaded URL into the Listen URL field, and mark it from Assigned to Ready for PL. :)

Checking in to note I'm still working on this. Was travelling w/o my equipment for a bit there, and now am working to make sure I get dialog off on the right foot (only done prose readings before, so it's taking a bit of extra up-front work to figure out good methods for both performing and recording character lines). Should have Chapter 1 posted in the next few days, and am anticipating further chapters w/dialog should go quicker after that.

Thanks!

@TriciaG, I can't find this info but I may just be looking in the wrong places (I just cut back on coffee and my brain isn't playing nice about it lol)... does getting PLs fall under BC or MC duties? If BC, what do I need to do for that? (Or just point me to whatever page I'm overlooking haha)

Either. Usually I'm nice and post the "DPL Wanted" ad myself; other times the BC does it.

Here's a link to the code you copy, then paste into a new thread in Listeners & Editors Wanted: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/ProofListening_Template
Then edit it to include the project info.

If you don't do this by this afternoon (in, say, 4 or 5 hours), I'll try to remember to do it. :)
