Peter Why wrote: February 28th, 2021, 6:45 am I use Effect/Change Tempo, set to 50%. That's about as much as I can change it, and still follow the text comfortably. I keep two Audacity versions of the mp3, one normal and one sped up. When I listen to the speeded up file, I note the time of any errors; when I'm done, I calculate the original times (adding 50%), and check against the original file to make sure I have it right.

Thanks! I'll try that.

Section 61; three little corrections you might make.

0519 Dock-work is precisely the office that [every kind of] man is fitted to perform. Bracketted section omitted
1417 Nearly everywhere you meet stacks of cork ... Read as "stacks of corn"
2025 that gave it more an air of heroism than desperation. "Despair" recorded instead of "desperation"

EDIT: ... and edited sections 59 and 60 are PL okay.

... and where's section 67?

Thanks, Gill; I'll be a few more days before PLing, as someone's actually paying me to make a recording.

I added a Reader's Note (c. 45s) about where the table begins as it is referred to as being "on the opposite page". Let me know if you think it sounds odd.

I've finished the first version of my "private" recording; I've just made a few grammatical corrections, and suggestions about alternative phrasing, which the author will be going through.

Section 66: I've marked as PL okay. I only spotted one error, which could probably be left uncorrected. It's up to you.

25.05 ... for the year ending June, 1849, exceeded the receipts. "1849" read as "1848"

Those precise accounts! ..... £2,840,353 16 6-1/4 ... "and a farthing"!

These construction costs put our current road-, rail-, and airport building costs in perspective. That was an enormous of money in those times.

Thanks, Peter.

Yes, he goes into such detail - and then gets his arithmetic wrong! :hmm:

Good work on the other thing, too.
