The Diary of Samuel Pepys 1663 by Samuel Pepys .

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-diary-of-samuel-pepys-1663-by-samuel-pepys/
Another jam-packed year for Pepys, making provisions for Tangier, indulging his passion for the theatre, always thoroughly engaged in his relationships with his wife and family, pursuing his foundational work for the Royal Navy, and displaying his hard-headed focus on money and his accounts. ( Nicole Lee)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/4145
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Great! Please make sure you update the MW; title, duration (in the notes), link to the file, and update the workflow status to Ready for PL. Once that's all done then we will move to Going Solo. Let me know if you have any difficulties along the way.

Hi Rapunzelina

I've loaded January now. It's been so long since I did this, it was quite a struggle to remember the process. I hope I've done it right!

I'd got out of the habit of librivoxing until I got a thank you from some chap who's started listening to the earlier volumes. He's finished 1660 and had started on 1661, and I got worried that he was going to run out of the diaries quite rapidly!

You missed changing the status over to 'Ready for PL'. It's currently on "Assigned". It's a dropdown.

February is PL OK, but what a morbid and grim month... Touching a cadaver... Dissection of a baby...

By the way, probably while you were away, we've set the ending silence to 5 seconds as enough for the longer recordings, too. So, it's not a problem if a recording has a 10-second silence, but if you want to go with 5 seconds from now on, it'll be OK!

Thanks Rapunzelina.

March is up now - it's a cheerier month although he seems to have some nasty sounding ailment!

Hi Nicole! A few pl notes for April:

Compared to previous intros, the "April 1663" at 0:24 is extra, so it can be deleted to match the other intros, for consistency. Except if there's a reason for its being added.

0:29 repeat of "Up betimes"

Also, compared to the previous recordings, there is some slight background noise, up to 30:03 (21st) and after 30:33 again. Noise reduction, optional.

30:33 missing "22nd"
