Stephen Mitchell's Journey by Pansy (1841 - 1930).

Stephen Mitchell doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere. He hates farming, although he must toil endless hours on the family’s failing farm. He’s not a scholar, for he never had any formal schooling. And he’s neither a husband nor lover, because he’s too self-conscious and awkward to speak to a young lady. But just when his future seems the bleakest, circumstances collide to put Stephen in the middle of a Chautauqua camp-meeting. For the first time in his life, Stephen is inspired to take one small step toward improving his future; and that single small step soon begets another. Totally weird. I sooo strongly believe that there was a short edit miss in chapter 1 and I distinctly remember writing out the note. And I come close to remembering the exact note. But it's showing as OK. Strange.
Now I'm wondering if it was in the last chapter of the last project.

You can be sure I will PL chapter 1 again when I do 2 & 3. Besides, that will help me remember which story this one is. ;-)

But now I'm headed to bed. :)

Chapters 2 & 3 PL OK

Chapter 1
I KNEW the missed edit was there. HOW it got OK’d when I specifically remember commenting the note ,,,and it’s not there… I don’t know. <insert Twilight Zone music>
---5:46 which unfortunately is too un…. is too common

I had to look up “flag bottomed rocking chair” (Mrs Mitchell, sitting not far away from him, in a little old-fashioned flag bottomed rocker….)
“flag any of the various plants that have long sword like leaves especially the iris.
I will guess that the chair has a seat woven of out of the leaves of a flag type plant.:"

When Stephen Mitchel came into the camp setting I thought "AHA, Chitauqua" but a couple men did mention later that these camps were springing up everywhere. So.. maybe not.
Okayyyy, so I'm listening to the Chitauqua series right now. ;-)

Fixed!

I clued in when he was inside the gate and going down the "city" streets. And it was clinched for me when he saw the amphitheatre. 8-)

Chapter 1 is really PL OK

I still wonder what in the world happened there. :hmm:

Yes, I think Pansy was trying to bring us into Chitauqua without us knowing it right away... but... we're too good in the detective department.
(whatever)
