The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot (1819 - 1880).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-mill-on-the-floss-version-2-by-george-eliot/
To follow ( )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/6688
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Many thanks to craigdav1 for volunteering for MC/DPL duties on another lengthy project.

Taking a deep breath, and doing research and general prep, but hope to begin recording soon, if temporary changes to recording conditions don't alter things too much. Otherwise, I'll get going in late September.

Sections 1 & 2 ready for PL.

You will see that the MW has many more sections than I asked for, not just because I've split several chapters, but because I miscounted (badly) in the first place. In the process of adding sections, I've ended up with an extra line which I don't think I can remove. I'd be grateful if you could get of it for me, thanks.

More important, I have adopted the author's divisions of the book, i.e. Book First, Book Second, etc, with each book having a separate set of chapter numbers. I don't think this should present any problems, provided I keep this consistent and clear.
