I am glad you are enjoying the book. I like that Irving tries to figure out and describe the character of such people as Captain Thorn.

Chapter 10 is ready. This is so interesting to me because I spent many years of my life in that part of the world. I was in the town of Astoria just last month, a very nice place to go on a sunny summer day.

Chapter 15 is ready. The story of Colter's race is such an amazing piece of western lore. I read that Colter was the first non-Indian to see the Yellowstone and Grand Teton areas. People did not believe his reports about the mudpots and geysers.
