Yesterday I uploaded Chapter 17 and today Chapter 18. There was a mistake in my post here.

Chapter 18 has an interesting peace-pipe smoking episode. The travelers are crossing South Dakota, which Irving several times calls, "a boundless waste" while also praising its beauty and mineral deposits!
