Ticonderoga; A Story of Early Frontier Life in the Mohawk Valley by George Payne Rainsford James (1799 - 1860).

In the backwoods, lives a man and his two teenage children. He has sought the quiet life on the frontier, although he is a friend to all and never turns away a stranger. One evening, one such stranger arrives at his door, asking for shelter for the night and he is not disappointed. But who is this stranger? He does not give his name or his errand, although he has an aristocratic bearing. As they are about to leave the table, a third man, apparently known to both, arrives and lets himself in to claim hospitality. His mission is to hold counsel with the stranger and he invites their host to join them. But what is afoot in this desolate corner of the world, where it seems all are far from home? There are references and language some listeners may find offensive. It is Librivox policy to read texts in their original form without censorship.( Lynne Thompson)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I’m not sure this is going to be a quick project. Not easy to grab quiet time.

PL OK!

There is a short little section around 10:55 that sounds awkward to me. Perhaps it's the pause. And the average volume of the recording goes up by about 2.5dB after 16:35 or so. Small things in the bigger picture.
Sunday is a good PL day for me.

Can’t explain that... I recorded it in one session :hmm:

2.5dB is a pretty small difference. I don't think it means much, though I could hear it, but only at the initial point and then my ear adjusted to the new level by itself.

I don't know how I missed on my first listen, but there is a tiny glitch at 26:24. My apologies for not catching it earlier. Your correction at 26:49 sounds good, however!
