Joseph Conrad: A Personal Remembrance by Ford Madox Ford (1873 - 1939).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/joseph-conrad-personal-remembrance-by-ford-madox-ford/
Joseph Conrad (1857 – 1924) was a Polish-British writer regarded as one of the greatest novelists to write in the English language. Though he did not speak English fluently until his twenties, he was a master prose stylist who brought a non-English sensibility into English literature. Conrad wrote stories and novels, many with a nautical setting, that depict trials of the human spirit in the midst of what he saw as an impassive, inscrutable universe. Conrad collaborated in some works with Ford Madox Ford. Ford (1873 – 1939) was an English novelist, poet, critic and editor whose journals The English Review and The Transatlantic Review were instrumental in the development of early 20th-century English literature. Ford in this memoir quotes extensively from Conrad's works and in the audible version it is sometimes difficult to determine where the quotes begin and end. ( Wikipedia and David Wales)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

There is an appendix to this book from the Journal Littéraire, about 4 pages long or so. That is beyond the capability of my high school French. I am seeking someone who would be comfortable in reading that, which we would include in this recording (with appropriate acknowledgment, of course). Anyone out there willing to take pity on this poor embarrassed monoglot, who would be enormously grateful. :D

This forum is a good place to find someone. The 14th topic down is a similar request.

Have entered section titles in mw. Not knowing if I could find a French speaker, I did not make a place for the Appendix; will add that later if someone comes to my rescue.
