Then, on April 31, as the Queen was returning from Stirling…
This isn’t you, because you read exactly what was there. But there is no 31st of April, so something’s gone off road somewhere! Wiki says she was kidnapped on 24 April but if that’s right then this is quite the typo. Do you happen to have a biography of her to hand?

I think since the text reads April 31, you should probably leave it. While it may be typo, it is in the original and was not corrected in a later editions as far as I can see.
