Margaret Sanger; an autobiography by Margaret Sanger (1879 - 1966).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/margaret-sanger-an-autobiography-by-margaret-sanger/

While working as a nurse amid the squalor of New York's Lower East Side in the early twentieth century, Margaret Sanger witnessed the devastating effects of unwanted pregnancies. Women already overwhelmed by the burdens of poverty had no recourse; their doctors were either ignorant of effective methods of birth control or were unwilling to risk defying the law.
Sanger resolved to dedicate her life to establishing birth control as a basic human right. Her battles brought a world of troubles — arrest, indictment, and exile among them — but ultimately she triumphed, opening the first American birth control clinic in 1916 and serving as the first president of the International Planned Parenthood Federation in 1953.
A fascinating firsthand account of an early crusade for women's healthcare, this autobiography is a classic of women's studies and social reform. ( Amazon)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Cadastra, I'm so sorry - I already have a DPL for this book. This process is still new to me and I should have figured out where to make note of that fact.

Jo, I'm not sure how to do this, but Larry (silverquill) will be the DPL. I was supposed to put that into the form, but neglected to. Hope I haven't caused a headache for anyone. Apologies!

No problem. I should have waited for you to respond. I've changed the DPL to silverquill in the database. There is no place in the template for indicating a DPL. The best way to do that is either to edit the top post or probably simpler by posting it in a separate reply right after you post your project. That way it is there for everyone to see right off the bat. :)

Chapter 2 is ready. I fear I completely butchered the French term in the opening quote - I can handle Spanish or Italian fairly well, but not French. Hope it's considered passable. :?

Fine by me.-
Grave robbery.

Yeah, my French isn't too good, although I can get by in Haitian Creole, Spanish and Korean - get by, but fare from fluent in any of them.
