Isle of the Undead by Lloyd Arthur Eshbach (1910 - 2003).

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/the-isle-of-the-undead-by-lloyd-eshbach/
"A gripping, thrilling, uncanny tale about the frightful fate that befell a yachting party on the dreadful island of living dead men." (Weird Tales, Volume 28, Issue 3, October 1936)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/32470
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hello Julian,
How nice of you to offer! :D
I think Rapunzelina will be doing double duty as MC and DPL.
But if I mistype... she will correct my grievous error.
Stay tuned...LJB 8-)

Exciting! Yes, I will also DPL! Looking forward to this!

I've made us a Magic Window. I think it's the first time that you'll update your own MW, so you'll need to create your log-in information
This should have all the information you need for your first time log in https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Soloists:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window#Accessing_the_System_.E2.80.93_First_Time_Login
but please ask if something is unclear. After that, you'll be able to access the MW from the "BC Admin" link below it, to fill in Section titles and enter the uploaded links, the duration.

For the intros, you could use "Chapter #" or "Section #" or "Part #", your choice!

FAB. 8-)
I've just finished marking up the text.
It had been a while since my last reading, and I had forgotten what a scenery-flamer this really is.
I can almost hear Tod Slaughter laughing maniacally in the background; he would have made a wonderful Leon Corio.

OBOYOBOYOBOY!
This is so exciting!
I just finished recording Part One, and it's a thrill every 5 seconds!
A guilty pleasure if I ever read one.
I'm recording a bunch of stuff while I have the house to myself, with editing to come...
And I'm amazed that I remember how to use Audacity and my microphone/etc., after such a long hiaitus.
And and and... I love sheltering in place. 8-)

I can't wait!

Obviously,

but, please don't feel rushed,
and take your time,
so that it doesn't take the fun out if it

Not to worry... it's a pretty easy read.
I just finished recording Part Two.
Our "heroine" (Vilma) is so pathetic.
Going out now for an afternoon constitutional with the dog, and to rest my voice ... staying away from everyone else, of course. 8-)

I hadn't realized how much I missed your voice! It's really nice to listen to your recordings again :9:

I got one PL note for Part 1, there is a repetition around 1:07 "Vilma Bradley shuddered and shrank against Clifford Darrell's brawny form."

After that, everything is perfect and flawless! For Part 2, as well!

I'll fix Vilma's shuddering, shrinking self.
