Thanks David, I am enjoying the journey and so glad I made the decision to do this project at the start of 2020 because it has so enriched a potentially very difficult time. I imagine your Librivox work likewise provides a sense of purpose and vision in these days....
Yes, an engaging narrative. Except for LV all of my other activities have been put on hold either because they are group activities or because of my age. No one wants a volunteer who's past a certain age. This book must have been a sensation when first published. It's still, a great read.

Here is section 18, during which I suspect we will both have learned something we didn't know about the formation of rainbows and the construction of Edwardian weather balloons! (22.43)

Again less action, more reflective and some good insights into camp life and personalities... hope all is well with you...

I had space to do another this week! Section 20, at 17.08: https://librivox.org/uploads/craigdav1/journalsofrobertfalconscottvol1_20_scott_128kb.mp3
On a completely different subject I am considering another project for next year, THE WAVES, by Virginia Woolf, but although it must be in the public domain there is no version yet on Gutenberg. Does that mean I will not be able to do a Librivox recording until Gutenberg does have one? I note that other Woolf novels which do appear on Gutenberg also now have recordings on Librivox. Hope all is well and you had a good trip!

Thanks for that, David. I suppose this is the difference between UK and US law, because I think over here it is 70 years from the death of the author.... anyway it seems I shall have to be patient (and have a long enough life!!!) Very best as always - Steve

Here is section 21, some very evocative writing here, revealing both Scott's cool scientific side and his warm, understanding connection with his fellow explorers and fellow creatures! (19.14)

Here is section 22, not quite so engrossing as the last chapter because Scott the scientist (or would-be scientist) is here more in the ascendence!
