Section 3 - everything is good except volume too high -- Checker shows as 93.7.

Sections 0, 1 and 2 are now PL OK!

Yes you are absolutely correct, the volume is to high. But please ignore the high volume. I will fix all of them in validation but leave 'em alone for the time being. I'm working on actually recording at a lower volume but these earlier sections were too punched up due to an erratic interface. The interface has been properly chastised and is behaving better. I think.

That's because I changed it before I posted here, and then went and did section 5 as well.

Notes for both: all fine except volume high again. 93.3 and 93.4 respectively.

Section 6 -- last one for right now -- all okay but Checker is not happy with volume again. You won't believe it, this time it says too low! Checker reads it as 85.2...

Thank you Colleen (what a wonderful name!) I will reduce the volume in validation.

Oh I believe it! I have increased sect ion 6 by 1.5 and uploaded again. (later chapters will be more consistently in the correct range. At least I hope)

Sections 3,4,5,6 all now PL OK!

I'm turning in early tonight, ipad in hand, so I'm gonna knock out a few more sections of PL-ing before I sleep!

Also, thought you might like to see the column where I talked about Lofting and Dolittle:

Colleen, I did not know you knew so much about public domain things. And y our writing is great, it flows so smoothly. I am struggling to write stories about word entomologies for some classes I will be giving soon. It is hard to actually put the sentences down in the right order so they flow. Not one of my skills at all but I am learning! :D and the online magazine is excellent too; are you a regular contributor?

I was a pretty regular commentator in their very vocal comments, and then as I got more into Librivox and started digging deeper and deeper into Gutenberg and Internet Archive, I kept mentioning little finds in comments, and finally emailed the guy who runs the site and said, hey what if I write a biweekly "column" about this stuff? And he was like, cool, so here I am, about to write my 27th installment a little over a year later...it's a fun little gig. Mostly it comes about by whimsy, often by seeing who of the older golden age/pre-golden age authors show up on the birthday lists and then seeing what they have available over on PG/IA/LV and writing it up. But sometimes there's some seriously fun random serendipity that makes it all a lot of fun.

Thanks for your kind words about my writing!

Colleen

PS As so often happens, when I went and found that link I ended up remembering that I have another installment coming up and decided to do some "quick research" "just for a few minutes" -- several hours later, I'm going to bed a lot later than I intended, without any additional PL-ing accomplished, so I'm sorry about that part!

Fabulous. It's great to follow our imaginations and fancy down any and all paths. Sad for the people who can't do that. Of course, those paths take up a lot of time when we 'should' be doing things like paying bills and cleaning the filters, but what the hey, eh? Your writing is good and I am going to do those three Ron Goulart stories as a solo soon. Thanks for mentioning them. :D

No kidding about the paths taking up time when we "should" be doing other stuff. I have a paid writing project I'm trying to finish up for tomorrow (so I can spend some time writing my unpaid public domain column) and right now I'm just itching to get back to Librivox stuff instead....both recording and PL-ing!

I just saw you left a comment on the post over on File 770 -- that was so nice, thank you!
