Hey Dave,

I need your input on something. Read the following sentence, and let me know if you think "wind" should be pronounced with a long "e" (as in winding a clock) or a short "e" (such as Chicago being the windy city).

Then it was a case of starving the guns, because the
shortage of ammunition would only allow each gun of each battalion four
rounds a day and as the soldiers call it out there, they had our "wind
up" all the time.

Got it. I recorded the sentence twice. I don't even know what that figure of speech means.

To me it would mean we were anxious all the time. Similar to being "wound up."

Then that would be with a long "i". I screwed up and said long "e". I'll go with a long "i".

I've been recording at 5:00 AM now that there is construction happening all day long next door. The only drawback is that my brain isn't good for much more than narration. Sometimes I barely remember the chapter when I go back and edit it 12 hours later.
