This project is now complete! Please listen and download from the catalog: https://librivox.org/the-life-and-adventures-of-james-p-beckwourth-2-by-t-d-bonner/

Autobiography of an early American pioneer ( )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://books.google.com/books?id=ziwUAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA13&source=gbs_toc_r&cad=3#v=onepage&q&f;=false
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

How do these solo projects work? Are you looking for a reader, or assembling the administrative crew?
I'd be interested in reading it, if that is possible.

No, solos are read by the person posting this thread. If you are looking for something to read, check out all the readers wanted forums . It's all a bit confusing at first but it is logical in the end :D

Hi annise,

Does the ( -o ) sign in the subject line indicate you are the MC for this project?

I can MC this for you. I'll be back in a little while with a magic window (MW).

By the way, are you aware that there is already a version of this book in the catalog? https://librivox.org/the-life-and-adventures-of-james-p-beckwourth-by-t-d-bonner/ It doesn't mean you can't record it, I only mention it because some people prefer to record things that have not already been recorded for librivox.

Hello Kathrinee, thank you for helping me.
I did see the other recording. But, this was in the abandoned projects list. Your guess is as good as mine????

It was in the abandoned projects list because somebody else had started it at some point, but then given up on it. But there is also a completed recording of the book in the catalog. However, if you like the book and want to record it, please don't let this stop you! Much-loved books can have lots of different recordings (I think the record is 10 or 12 or something;) ).

Thank you for all those sections! You must have been busy.

I realize I didn't tell you before, but as a soloist you will update the MW (magic window) yourself. This is how to log in for the first time:
Jo's simplified first-time login instructions (with pictures):
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxWB83bbALTQYjlENGZ0SVJUWWs

and this tells you more (more than you need to know, really, for a solo)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kVj409nG_E0XJ5UrrcL7EVx7Qyx-2UQ7dbw4mINi3XQ

I'll move this project over to the Going Solo forum now, hang on tight!
