France to Scandinavia by Frank G. Carpenter (1855 - 1924). - mas

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/france-to-scandinavia-by-frank-g-carpenter/
A travelogue through the countries of France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden for young and old alike. Interesting big cities and lesser known areas that provide a glimpse of Europe nearly 100 years ago. ( BettyB)
  1. Text source (only read from this text!): https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc1.$b42002&view=1up&seq=1
    .
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
    .
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    • Say:
"France to Scandinavia, by Frank G. Carpenter. [Chapter]"

    .
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of France to Scandinavia by Frank G. Carpenter. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Only if applicable, say:
      "[Chapter title]"
    END of recording:
    • At the end of the section, say:
      "End of [Chapter]"
    • If you wish, say:

      .
    • At the end of the book, say (in addition):

Betty,
Checking in as MC. I'll get your MW set up tomorrow (hopefully, looks like a rather busy day at work and those sometimes end up turning into rather busy evenings at work . . . )

I don't know why, I'm just really into geography lately and kind of always have been. Can I please DPL?

Also, the link you provided didn't really work, so I think I found one that does... hopefully:

Thank you!

Betty, please check section 10 at 17.32. Seems a longish pause mid sentence.

Ok, well, it can't be 10. I listened to the next 4 sections while driving in the car. I'm sure of the time (17.32), just not sure what section was playing.

The only section posted that is long enough and not proofread to have a 17.32 is #5 which is marked Ready to PL.

I listened and there was a longish pause between 17.25-30 so I shortened it. Will mark it Ready for Spot PL. Do you remember the word "sluggard?" :D
Maybe you can double check to make sure this is the one?

I'm sure that's it Betty. Thanks. I'll try to take better notes next time! But you have so few PL comments to start with, I get rusty!

Betty, would you check the beginning of 15. Sorry, I dont have a time. I was driving. But the first sentence seemed to have an usual pause in

Rhone valley . . . Where I am now.

I checked the beginning of 15 and it was simply an extra 1-1.5 seconds between words. Repaired and re-sent.
I marked it PL OK but you are welcome to double- check it.
