Michael, Thank you very much for your precious help. :D

I would be grateful if you could find the link to the PDFs of Calcultta II and Bulaq II, it allows us to compare them with the version we want to read.

Warm thanks,
Aïda

Oh, how interesting about the "naughty bits"...

Aida, I don't care which one you'd like to read, but once you decide, you'll need to stick to a single edition. I'm happy to make adjustments to the MW etc. It's up to you! :D
Cheers, Ava.

If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Michael, these books are like treasures that have popped up on the surface with your help. The links are also very interesting.

I chose to read the refined version (Bayrut 1888-1890). Now, we have the 05 volumes.

Ava, I would like to read the whole book. I would like to know, too, if, technically, it is possible to make a magic window with 559 sections.

Volume 1 (67 sections) : https://iiif.lib.harvard.edu/manifests/view/drs:425346738$1i
Volume 2 (97 sections) : https://iiif.lib.harvard.edu/manifests/view/drs:425349292$1i
Volume 3 (108 sections) : https://iiif.lib.harvard.edu/manifests/view/drs:425350466$1i
Volume 4 (131 sections) : https://iiif.lib.harvard.edu/manifests/view/drs:425353044$1i
Volume 5 (156 sections) : https://iiif.lib.harvard.edu/manifests/view/drs:425353796$1i

Thank you for everything,
Aïda

Perfect!

I am not sure if putting these links into the database is a good idea (since I'm always a bit worried about links disappearing), but if these scans are identical from what is on archive, it's not a big deal from which ones you read anyway.

We cannot have projects with more than 255 sections, for technical reasons.
Since the book was published in 5 volumes, I would suggest to read it in 5 parts too. First because it's easy to use a partition that's already there ;-) Second because it gives you a sense of accomplishment finishing one after the other and seeing them in the catalog and third because it gives your fans something to listen to while you're working on the next book ;-)

All I'd need is a new title for the database and the intro/outro (in arabic please) that states "part one" or "book one" or something like that.

When this is sorted, we can move to "going solo", okay? :D
Cheers, Ava.

[Revised] If you prefer to use PDFs or versions stored at the Archive, it has the 1st printing/edition (Tab`a) without volume 3, volume 1 of the 2nd printing/edition (1914), and the 3rd printing/edition without volume 1 (1927-1930), all from the University of Toronto. These years are based on the front pages. The metadata gives 1914 as the year for the 3rd edition, while the pencil markings on the front pages give 1888-90, which seems to indicate that University of Toronto librarians considered the 3rd edition to be a reprint of the 1st rather than a different publication. It's possible that some of these missing volumes are at the Archive, but hard to find because of inconsistent metadata. I noticed that vol 1 of the 2nd edition is missing the last story from the vol 1 of the 1st edition, but the table of contents for volume 3 in the 1st and 3rd editions seem to list the same stories at a glance.

1st edition
vol1:

vol2:

vol4:

vol5

2nd edition
vol 1 (upside down):

3rd edition
vol 2:
https://archive.org/details/alflaylahwalayla02lnanuoft/page/n437
vol 3:
https://archive.org/details/alflaylahwalayla03lnanuoft/page/n502
vol 4:
https://archive.org/details/alflaylahwalayla04lnanuoft/page/n508
vol 5:

[The best edition for our audio-book]

Ava, Michael,

Reading is my great passion and this particular project is close to my heart. That's why I would like to re-select the best version for "our" audiobook. I will re-read carefully and compare the different versions and I'll write to you in the coming days........

I'll get back to you soon ....

Good evening everyone,

first of all, sorry for taking so long.......

By the way, by comparing the different versions, I came across a new one. I would like to know if I could read from this link. (Please see below).

Publication date: 1885 (Gregorian calender) = 1302 (Hijri calender)

The entire book in four volumes :

(Volume 1 + Volume 2) (المجلد الأول و الثاني):
https://archive.org/details/McGillLibrary-rbsc_isl_arabian-nights_kitab-alf-laylah-wa-laylah_PJ7711A521885_v1-2-15548/page/n4

(Volume 3 + Volume 4) (المجلد الثالث والرابع):
https://archive.org/details/McGillLibrary-rbsc_isl_arabian-nights_kitab-alf-laylah-wa-laylah_PJ7711A521885_v3-4-15549/page/n2

I hope you are still interested,

I would be more comfortable with your new links if I could find some publication date anywhere in the scan.

I don't read arabic, really (I can recognise numbers), so you'd need to help me with this one please.
Cheers, Ava.

Yes, I've seen that. :D That's not really good enough since everybody can upload stuff to archive and enter these things. Archive itself does no checking whatsoever.
