Thank you! I'm happy to be able to help with this project.

True ما" حرف نفي تدخل على الماضي. مثال : ما جاء أحد - ما ضرب أحد". In the text it means "You Don't Know = ما تعلم اني".
True للمجدّ comes from the expression اجد في سيره, and should be pronounced " mujidd = للمُجِدّ "Kazbek wrote: ↑September 26th, 2020, 9:39 am
@22:24 - للمجدّ (from Sara's PL notes)
I can't find this word in a dictionary, but I believe it comes from the expression اجد في سيره, and so presumably would be pronounced "mujidd". http://ejtaal.net/aa/#q=jd
Hi Aida,
You too have done an impressive job

I'm enjoying this so much! I've been hoping for many years to hear an audiobook of alf layla. When I read an Arabic text on my own, I always feel like I'm missing some of the music. It's only when I hear a great reading like yours that I feel I'm experiencing the full beauty of the language.

@0:38, seq 63: I hear "bazar". I think it should be "bi-azar"
@2:26, 2:31, seq 64: Wehr gives "nuqali" and "nuql" http://ejtaal.net/aa/#q=nql (p. 1167), but it looks like there's variation in pronunciation, and "naql" appears as one of the variants in other dictionaries at the same link. Also appears at @14:00, 30:46, and 30:48.
@11:08, end of seq 67: I hear "mushahat". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muwashshah
@12:14, mid of seq 68: hmm, I think this may be a third word that's written the same: nuqal (pl. of nuqla), meaning (same link as above) gossip (Wehr) or storytelling and jest (Steingass). I think when naql means narration, it refers to a scholarly activity?
@12:18, ibid: I hear "yaduqq", written يُدق
@12:20, ibid: I hear a fa3ala verb (no shadda) instead of يختلّ
@19:17, 19:22, end of seq 70: I hear "sifa". I think it's "suffa". http://ejtaal.net/aa/#q=Sf
@30:39, top of seq 75: I head "nibaad" instead of "nabbaadh" (wine-seller)
Until this day, I'm doing well. It's a difficult time for all of us, this pandemic is not going away anytime soon.....be careful.
Here are the changes :Kazbek wrote: ↑October 4th, 2020, 10:50 am
Here are some suggestions for section 17:
@3:22, seq 76: I hear "la uhash". I think it's "la awhash". I found only one dictionary entry for this expression, وقد أَوْحَشَهُ الله فاسْتَوْحَشَ: https://www.almaany.com/ar/dict/ar-ar/%D8%A3%D9%88%D8%AD%D8%B4/
@11:50-12:08, seq 79: repeat
@14:56, seq 80: I hear "lajam". I think it's "lujum" (reins)
@15:18, ibid: I hear "عَربان". I think it's "عُربان", a different word: https://www.almaany.com/ar/dict/ar-ar/%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%86/
My sister-in-law in Montreal tells us there's a new lockdown. I hope you're doing well.
Hi Michael,
