I always thought of the “Grand Inquisitor” as the longest chapter in the book, but this one caught me by surprise: it’s just as long. (At least, in the recorded version. I was probably reading more slowly, because of the subject matter.)

I made one tiny correction to the text. At 39:53, the Project Gutenberg version reads, "she shook him by the hand." It should be, "she took him by the hand." (I confirmed this by checking the photo-scanned version at archive.org.)
