Timothy, This morning, I happened to notice that we don't yet have Whitfeld in the LibriVox catalog, and so I decided on a whim to do a bit of sleuthing for his dates, based on the info he gives at the beginning of Scilly --i.e. "The Rev. H.J. Whitfeld, M.A., Late of Downing College, Cambridge; Vicar of Granborough, Bucks; and Domestic Chaplain to the Earl of Mornington." My dip into these realms leads me to believe that the author's name is Henry John, not Henry James Whitfeld. Whitfeld wrote another book, Rambles in Devonshire (1854), which is attributed to Henry John on the web, and other references to Scilly and the book on Devonshire on the web are all to "Henry John Whitfeld." https://archive.org/details/ramblesindevonsh00whit/page/n4
Here are a couple of items relating, in the first instance, to the date that Henry John Whitfeld graduated from Downing College and, secondly, to his position as Vicar of Granborough:

If you agree with me that Whitfeld's first names are Henry John then I would think there should be an update to the blurb. I'm not inclined to an emendation of what you've already recorded, but from now on just to emend your introduction of the author.
What prompted the 19th century predilection for initials instead of names I do not understand! It's frustrating.
