Living With Our Children: A Book of Little Essays for Mothers by Clara Dillingham Pierson (1868 - 1952).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/living-with-our-children-by-clara-dillingham-pierson/
This book is a collection of small essays to help parents better understand their children and offer help to parents in the task of raising them. To quote from the preface, “It is hoped that the very simplicity and homeliness of method of this book may help eager, devoted, perplexed parents to realize that similarity in apparent diversity which underlies the experiences of different people, to perceive more clearly that the small affairs of childhood are really very large in their significance and that our way of dealing with them concerns far more than the present moment.” ( SweetHome)

    .
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
    .
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'd be happy to MC this for you. I'll get your MW set up and be back with further instructions.

OK, you are good to go.

I shortened your file name a bit, everything else looks great.

Enjoy!

Thank you!

I used the longer intro for both the preface and chapter one. For subsequent chapters I will do the shorter one. I also want to just say "Living with Our Children" and not say the subtitle for the remaining chapters. Hope that is alright.

I have started filling in the MW. I will get around to finishing up adding the chapter titles in a little bit.

I uploaded the first two sections twice. The first time I accidentally loaded files that were much too quiet and needed to be amplified.

That's no problem. As long as you use the same file name, the most recent upload will automatically replace any prior upload of the same file.

I was not able to access the MW today for this book, so I am recording the links here for now.

EDIT: My mistake...MW updated.

Are you still looking for a DPL? I could do it. I see you have a bunch of chapters recorded and it may take a few days for me to get through them, but I'm willing to get to work :D

Took a listen to the preface! Your voice is so smooth and easy to listen to! Just one comment:

1:49 - heard 'experience', text says 'experiences'.

I generally only comment on text issues if they change the meaning of a sentence or make the sentence not work for some reason. Let me know if you would like me to be more or less strict!

Also managed Chapter 1! One note here too:

4:41 - heard 'consistent', text says 'constant'

I also thought I'd point out that your volume is fluctuating between each recording. All of them so far have been within the accepted limits, but have varied by a few db. I know people often push for a consistent volume so I just thought I'd mention it :D. Nothing needs to be fixed, just keep an eye on it perhaps.
