Judith Lee - Pages From Her Life by Richard Marsh (1857 - 1915).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/judith-lee-pages-from-her-life-by-richard-marsh/

Judith Lee is a young woman with an unusual gift, she can read lips at a distance as well as she can hear the person next to her. Her skill leads her into a number of adventures. Written by Richard Marsh (The Beetle, Joss: the Reversion) and published in the Strand Magazine in 1911, Marsh creates a strong independent female detective. ( )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/TheStrandMagazineAnIllustratedMonthly/TheStrandMagazine1911bVol.XliiJul-dec
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I linked to the full Strand magazine archive in the project. I have also pulled out the section of the index that shows the titles, and also the pages with the stories, into a separate file, to help read and prooflisten:

This file contains the five stories from this project and also later stories which I plan to record when done with this project.

All set.
Do you have a DPL?
Also, you could shorten the file name to judithlee if you wish.

I do not have a DPL.

I will shorten the filename to judithleepages as there will be a second set of the stories, if this goes well. I would have tried all 13 in one project, but I didn't want to bite off more than I can chew.

Thanks for the MW, I will update it with chapter names in a little while.

Should I post in the Listeners Need forum for a DPL? Not sure of the protocol. Last time I was here a DPL grabbed projects pretty quickly.

You can do... it’s usual to wait until there are a couple of chapters waiting, but there are no “rules”. That’s also why we wait on the Launch Pad for a couple of days, as that’s where people often look for projects to pick up.

That is fine, I have a second chapter recorded, but not edited. Have company tonight, so will probably not edit it until Wednesday. Looking forward to recording more, I am enjoying this character.

That is great! This should be a short project. I have two chapters recorded. They are longish, but hope to record a chapter every couple of days.

Section 1 PL OK. Great reading and a very interesting story.
I noticed that the recording passed Checker with warning that the volume is at 94.5dB, outside of the target range(86 ~ 92 dB).
Not sure if we need to do something about it.

Thanks,
SS

Yes, can you reduce the volume to within the acceptable range, please.
