The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931).

This project is now complete. All files can be downloaded from the catalog page here:https://librivox.org/the-prophet-by-kahlil-gibran/[/color]
The prophet Al Mustafa, before leaving the city where he has been living twelve years, stops to address the people. They call out for his words of wisdom on many sides of the human condition, and he addresses them in terms of love and care. He has much to offer from his observations of the people, and he illustrates with images they can relate to.

The author, Gibran, was influenced by the Maronites, the Sufis, and the Baha’i. His philosophy, though deist, is primarily aimed at the good within ourselves, and the common-sense ways in which we can unlock it. An illustration from his chapter on Friendship:

“And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.”

The prophet’s gentle words have inspired their translation into over 108 languages. Listen to them with an open mind. You may find some burdens and frustrations hidden within you eased.

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Wow! I see I'm actually posting this an hour behind another entry for the same book! My apologies to Adamsantoni  ... however, I already have the first 2 sections in the can, so I'm going ahead with it!

Now that I'm into the book, I see that the chapters are short. Per the general instructions, I'll gang them into groups that will run at least 10 minutes. (Sorry, but it appears I asked for more sections than I'll need!)

The first is up and ready for a listen! This contains the first 2 chapters.

OK, I have it figured out now...
Section 1 = Chaps 1-2
Section 2 = Chaps 3-7
Section 3 = Chaps 8-12
Section 4 = Chaps 13-18
Section 5 = Chaps 19-23
Section 6 = Chaps 24-27
Section 7 = Chap 28

I ended up replacing the first file; I had forgotten to normalize the sound, and I changed the metadata, as I have now figured out how to subdivide the book.

And now, Section 2 is up! :D

You are forgetting to set the ready for PL flag in the MW - that tells Helen it's there on her PL page - which is just like your reader page. I'm not sure whether she does it that way or by subscribing to the thread but it's easy to set
