Sections 3 and 4 are beautifully PL OK.
They are sensitively read.

Always a pleasure to listen to you, Michele!

Thanks, Angelique.

Chapter 3, my suspicion is that Gibran didn't think much of marriage! He made it sound binding to the point of suffrage, advising couples to "lighten up". I fear my rendition conveyed that un-ease with "the ties that bind". After all he is a wandering wayfarer, an adventurer, not bound to anyone in the story, and in real life as well he never married. So maybe that's what he meant to say, though I don't think most people interpret it that way!

*Blushing and Laughing Simultaneously!*

Wellll, uhhh. My wedding ceremony included excerpts, spoken in duet style, from both "On Love" and "On Marriage."

i found it to be a blend of both romantic and practical advice.

Well. I just leave it at that. *LAUGH!*

But, please, by all means, share your thoughts, Michele.

Whose wedding didn't (include some Gibran)! Blushing and laughing myself. Mine included the whole "Friendship" chapter. So many metaphors, similes, quotable quotes.

Chapters 5 and 6 are uploaded:

Sections 5 & 6 are PL OK.
I am beginning to hear how the whole work will sound on completion.
Nicely, evenly read! By which I mean that there are neither melodramatic highs and lows.
A pleasant listenen, paced to allow for reader consideration of the philosophies.

Chapters 9 and 10 are uploaded:

I was right! He is a seafarer, an adventurer . . . . a true bohemian . . . . . and no great respecter of board and fireside!

Chapter 7. is PL Ok.
Indeed, when enjoyed, "Work is love made visible." (Or audible! )

8 PL Ok

9
1:44 Text: Have you "beauty"
Sounds as "biddy"

(Yes. Gibran making Statements of The Antisocial here!)

10 is PL OK

And now, we learn that Kahlil has some nudist philosophies, too! *Laugh*

"And when his work was done he laughed in the forest."
Well placed subtle expression of amusement here!

Overall,
Delightful, with virtually NO mistakes throughout these chapters. Impressive!

Sections 11, 12 and 13 are all Word Perfect PL OK.

And oh, yes. "Down to business"; Gibran certainly railing against the prevailing philosophy of his time and culture by abjuring retaliation.
Hm. A sweet man.
Hmph.

Well paced througout Michele!

Michele,
You have requested that I provide "Word Perfect" PL, so that if others are reciting along with you, they will be able to more easily to do so.

14. Freedom
Text:
And if it is a despot you would dethrone, see first that his throne erected within you is destroyed.

1:45 Read:
And if it is a despot you would dethrone, see first that the throne erected within you is destroyed.

Change is optional, but I veer a slight bit more towards the "his" side, since we are railing against a despot.

My comment on Gibran's line:
"For how can a tyrant rule the free and the proud, but for a tyranny in their own freedom and a shame in their own pride?"

Me: Well. By destroying those who do not comply with his every whim!
Ahhh, each of us to our time and place. I now read this line as tainted with a "blame the victim" slant.
Sweetness and light have their appropriateness, but the dirt and grit of the oppressed cannot be disregarded, according to my own vision.

15. All PL OK.

16. PL OK.
Slowing of pace was a well selected artistic decision.
The gentle tone of your voice, Michele here, compassion shines through here.

Well done!
Wow! Almost half way through?!
*CONGRATS* ... looking forward to more!
