Well, not quite the Chicago media but definitely the online news feeds. At least he/they will (we assume) soon leave NZ.

Hello -

Just noticing the temperature differences (degrees C) between Chicago, my town and Melbourne. A mere 37 degrees Chc-Chicago, 41 degrees Melb-Chicago.

Anyway, Chapter 14 is ready now.

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/travelsinnewzealand1_20_dieffenbach_128kb.mp3
17:51.5, 88.9 dB.
MW isn't playing nice again...

With regard to those tourists, I heard someone comment "how dare they engage in behaviour that is reserved for New Zealanders!?!"

Cheers

20 PL OK.

Yes, last year this time we were in Costa Rica. A tad warmer. Because of travel we missed the first big snow fall this winter but not the second. Went snowshoeing. Hope those little kiwis are happily breeding and staying away from predators (and tourists).

Oops. I had an almost subconscious feeling about that. Will rename and upload again.

I was interrupted between uploading and putting in a post by a lllooonnng video call with my Chicago daughter. Must not have finished the message.

Sorry about all that.

Here are renamed Sections 21 and 22 (Chapters 15 and 16). Hopefully right this time?

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/travelsinnewzealand1_21_dieffenbach_128kb.mp3
4:48.1, 90.4 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/travelsinnewzealand1_22_dieffenbach_128kb.mp3
4:30.1, 89.5 dB

Hope that this is better. Let me know what other mess-ups I may have made.

Arrrgggh.. is that Fahrenheit or Celcius? My yr.no app has Chicago at -29 C on 31 Jan (brrr - bad for exposed fingers and toes) while we are at 27 C (hot for Chch), and by contrast on 30 Jan Melbourne (That's Anne) is 37 C. Melbourne has had some really hot weather, but then they do this time of year.

Cheers

New Zealanders love extreme weather, so Chicago featured on tonight's news bulletin. Images of State Street and the Chicago River among other things... Not a lot of people out on the streets...

Hi --

I have just uploaded three Chapters for proof listening.

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/travelsinnewzealand1_23_dieffenbach_128kb.mp3
17:41.3, 90.7 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/travelsinnewzealand1_24_dieffenbach_128kb.mp3
4:23.7, 90.9 dB

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/travelsinnewzealand1_25_dieffenbach_128kb.mp3
16:00.1, 90.0 dB

I've was off the grid for 2 1/2 weeks on Stewart Island. Such a lovely place.

Please let me know if anything is amiss. (I had interruptions as I was uploading and hope I didn't make the wrong file mistake again... but they look the right sizes so probably not.)

Thanks

Hi -

Section 26 (Chapter XX) is uploaded for listening.

https://librivox.org/uploads/annise/travelsinnewzealand1_26_dieffenbach_128kb.mp3
13:10.0, 89.4 dB.

The 2.5 weeks on Stewart Island were Great. Plenty of walking, but just relaxing as well. All day walks :) -- no big packs this time. Various accommodation -- the wee cottage in which we have a share, plus 6 nights between two hunters huts that are only accessible by water taxi. Solar chargers to keep the phone charged... have to have weather reports. Saw a kiwi in the day time, heard plenty at night.

Cheers

26 PL OK.

Sounds great (especially your trip!). We're planning a trip to Denali NP in August. Staying in a cabin on a ridge facing the mountain. An 8-hour drive form the nearest cell tower.

Hi Anne --

We're hearing about the fires all around Melbourne. I'm not sure where you are around Melbourne but I hope that you and yours are all OK.

Take care
