The Man Who Hated Mars by Randall Garrett (1927 - 1987).

This project can be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/the-man-who-hated-mars-by-randall-garrett/
To escape from Mars, all Clayton had to do was the impossible. Break out of a crack-proof exile camp—get onto a ship that couldn't be boarded—smash through an impenetrable wall of steel. Perhaps he could do all these things, but he discovered that Mars did evil things to men; that he wasn't even Clayton any more. He was only—The Man Who Hated Mars. Included in this recording are four more stories by Garrett: Bramblebush, Viewpoint, Time Fuze and Heist Job on Thizar. These are some of Garrett's lesser known short stories. Excitement mounts...... IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hello:

I am unclear about this collection. Is it your intention to have a single voice for all three stories, or to have multiple voices? If you are looking for a single reader, I might be interested. I have not attempted a book yet, and this might be an opportunity to see what that would be like.

Thank you

Hi Dale and welcome to LibriVox. This is a solo project meaning that I am recording all three of them myself. (note the forum "going solo"). If you like science fiction there is a large library waiting to be recorded at Gutenberg. If you want to try a section of a book for yourself, browse the forum Readers Wanted, Books
viewforum.php?f=19 Here is a little video that may explain our forums better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnxpcbnEjoQ&feature=youtu.be

The Collaborative or Group projects welcome readers for sections, just claim one. The solo projects have just one reader. Please ask if anytnhiing is confusing, OK? I am here to help you. !!

Hi

That is more clear. I was going to record "Man who hated Mars" for Short Sci-Fi, but I will shelve it now. Thanks

You can do that! Absolutely that would be fine for that collection. We welcome multiple recordings of material.

Lol, ok good. I saw that MW and my inside voice said “ah, man, that’s not fair! I’m so tired and now I’ll hold up the project it I don’t pl tonight.”

Now I can wait until the morning without the guilt. Besides, PLing for you with my morning coffee/tea reminds me of our early days at LV. It seemed I almost always had the pleasure of your telling me a story in the morning.

Section 1 is PL OK with the exception of technical specs. That was a fitting ending.

Yeah, 2 was heavy into neuclonics but I enjoyed it. About the tech specs, thanks for catching that; I downloaded the latest Audacity and it must have thrown off my presets. I'll fix the bit rates in a bit and double check at validation of course.

Even though confusing, section 2 was very enjoyable.

Section 3 is PL OK, except for technical specs. I dread software upgrades.

story 4 is in the magic window. Subtitle should be 'whoops'.
And I think I've fixed the bit rate. :D

1 and 3 are both spot check PL OK.

I'll listen to 4 a little later today. With a subtitle like that it's sure to be fun. :D
